Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, creative, and detail-oriented Pop Culture Social Media Manager to join our Instagram team.
As a key member of our social media division, you will be responsible for discovering, creating, and curating trending stories in pop culture, politics, and human interest that drive high engagement across our local and global audience.
This role requires:
- A deep understanding of African and global pop culture
- Proven success in building engagement on platforms (especially Instagram)
- Strong photo and video editing skills
- A knack for visually compelling storytelling
- Ability to react in real-time to trends and breaking stories

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and create trending news, pop culture, and human interest content for NotJustOk’s Instagram
- React quickly to breaking news and trends—especially nights and weekends
- Edit content for clarity, grammar, and factual accuracy
- Ensure fast content turnaround to maintain topical relevance
- Create and edit short-form videos for social media
- Monitor social trends and refine content strategies to increase engagement
- Write compelling headlines, captions, and hashtags
- Track and analyze performance metrics to optimize future content
- Collaborate with the editorial, marketing, and content teams
- Stay updated with social media algorithms and best practices
- Brainstorm content ideas with editors and team members
- Partner with the sales team on branded content that resonates with our audience
- Ensure content accuracy and credibility through fact-checking
- Align content with NotJustOk’s brand tone and identity
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or related fields (preferred)
- Strong understanding of journalism standards and ethical reporting
- Proven experience in social media management and audience engagement
- Experience spotting and packaging trending stories on social media
- Excellent photo and video editing skills (Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, etc.)
- Strong visual aesthetic and attention to detail
- In-depth knowledge of African music, youth culture, and entertainment
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Familiarity with tools like Instagram Analytics, Facebook Insights, or other social listening platforms
- Ability to work independently, under pressure, and within a collaborative environment
Preferred Experience
- 3–5 years in social media management or editorial roles (preferably Instagram)
- 3–5 years of experience in digital journalism
- Background in music, entertainment, or digital publishing

Compensation
₦300,000/month (Negotiable)
Actual pay will depend on your experience and performance.
