The SIMSISLaboratory at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Louisiana State University is looking to recruit multiple highly motivated PhD and MS students starting Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 (and possibly Fall 2026) to join its research group.

The Louisiana State University Scholarships are based on research work that lies within the area of Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) and assessment of civil infrastructure systems and civil infrastructure Digital Twins.

Eligibility Criterias for the 2026 Louisiana State University Scholarships 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Solid background in SHM and core Structural Engineering subjects.
  • Experience with Finite Element Modeling and numerical/digital modeling approaches.
  • Demonstrated experience in research and scientific writing.
  • Strong willingness to engage in multidisciplinary collaborations across engineering. computer science, and visualization domains.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on SHM testing experience, particularly on real-world infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with Digital Twin concepts and applications.
  • Proficiency in programming (e.g., Python, ROS, C#, C++, Unity, Blender).
  • Experience with mobile robotics (hardware/software) and artificial intelligence techniques.
  • Exposure to immersive visualization tools and applications (e.g., VR, AR, MR).
