The program seeks to enhance the educational experience of students by alleviating financial burdens, thus allowing them to focus on their studies and personal development
BACKGROUND & PURPOSE
Access to quality education is a cornerstone of individual and societal development. However, many students face financial challenges that impede their ability to pursue higher education.
The OPay Scholarship Program is designed to bridge this gap and make education more accessible.
The purpose of the scholarship program is to:
- Provide financial assistance to students with demonstrated need.
- Promote inclusivity by ensuring equal opportunities for all.
- Enhance the employability and future success of scholarship recipients.
GOAL & OBJECTIVES
Goal:
To promote access to education, foster inclusivity, and contribute to the development of well-rounded individuals.
Objectives:
1. Financial Assistance: Provide financial support to students facing economic barriers to accessing higher education by reducing the financial burden of tuition, fees, and other educational expenses.
2. Promoting Inclusivity: Ensure that individuals from all backgrounds have equal opportunities to access the benefits of the scholarship.
3. Career Development: Support students in their career aspirations by providing the financial means to pursue internships, research opportunities, or other professional development activities. Enhance the employability and future success of scholarship recipients.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- Must have an active OPay account
- Nigerian citizenship & full-time enrolment in an accredited tertiary institution
- CGPA of 3.5/5.0 (or equivalent) after Year 1
- Evidence of financial need (letter from HoD or student affairs)

SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS
1. Duration: One academic session.
2. Scholarship Amount: ₦300,000.
3. Scholarship Applications are open till 23:59 WAT, 28 Aug 2025.
4. 40 shortlisted undergraduate students will receive N300,000 per academic session upon successfully meeting the requirements and going through the screening process.
How to Apply
1. Prepare:
- Clear PDF of transcript (100 L results).
- Proof of studentship (current ID card).
- Letter of need (signed & stamped).
- 500-word personal statement: “How I’ll Pay It Forward if Selected.”
2. Visit the official portal: opayweb.com
3. Create account → fill online form → upload docs (max 10 MB total).
4. Hit SUBMIT before 23:59 WAT, 28 Aug 2025.
5. Check email/SMS mid-September for shortlist & virtual interview slot.
