Role Description of the Technical Writer at Nathan Claire Africa

  • We are seeking a highly motivated and tech-savvy individual to join our team as a Technical Writer.
  • This position offers an excellent opportunity to apply your knowledge and experience, learn new skills, and contribute to real-world IT projects.
  • The successful candidate will work closely with our software development team to understand the technical aspects of our software and take a user-centred approach to explaining how to use the products to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities of the Technical Writer at Nathan Claire Africa

  • Create and maintain technical documentation including API references, user manuals, deployment guides, architecture diagrams, and release notes.
  • Translate complex technical concepts of the Edge Platform into clear and accessible content.
  • Collaborate with the software development teams to gather information and validate documentation accuracy.
  • Assist in the development of internal standard operating procedures, onboarding materials, and knowledge base articles
  • Continuously improve documentation based on user feedback, testing, and platform updates
  • Ensure consistency and adherence to documentation style guides and industry best practices.
  • Organise and manage content using version control and documentation tools e.g., Git

Minimum Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in technical writing for software products or IT services
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerBI
  • Strong knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, and software applications.
  • Strong Knowledge of modern software development processes, cloud computing, networking, AIOps and DevOps concepts.
  • Hands-on experience working with APIs, SDKs, and documentation platforms (e.g., Git, Markdown and JIRA)
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and problem-solving technical issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Proficiency in a programming language.
  • Prior experience with IT support or customer service is a plus
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and best practices is a plus.
  • Experience in software development Web and Mobile applications is a plus
  • Experience with data analysis concepts, methodologies, and tools is a plus.
  • Experience with Site Reliability Engineering and application performance monitoring & SRE concepts, tools, and techniques is a plus.
